Sharon Royal, LMHC
In practice since 1997
I offer psychotherapy for adult individuals and couples experiencing problems of living, relating, and working. Individuals with distressing emotions, mood or thoughts. Those facing life transitions. Those who might struggle with interpersonal relationships. Who live with grief and loss. Those going through challenging life circumstance. I work frequently with persons affected by ADHD and related conditions, whether in their own adult lives or alongside someone close. I work with parents finding their way. I work with established couples who have lost their way, and with newer couples considering commitment.
Psychotherapy with me is a collaborative process that aims to alleviate personal suffering, expand one's capacity for feelings, and increase flexibility in thought, understanding and behaviors. Through conversation and reflection we explore your present and past experience seeking to enhance awareness of yourself, your relationships and emotional elements that impact your life. The difficulties a person entrusts to this process will be listened to attentively and received with curiosity and care.
I come to this work from a decade of research in psychosomatic medicine where I investigated ways that early-in-life experiences affect unseen development of our bodies and mind at very basic levels. From this work I was Inspired to follow questions into doctoral study in clinical psychology. I have had the privilege of accompanying individuals through puzzlement, pain and wonder for over 25 years.
