Katie Wilson, LMHC

In practice since 2003

I believe that life often leads us to places we didn't expect--feeling alone, overwhelmed, disappointed, or angry. My hope is that therapy gets to be a place where you start to be known, understood and make sense of what’s happening within. I deeply believe in the work of therapy, and that by starting the process, we are changed.

As a psychodynamic psychotherapist, I believe that our internal landscape is largely formed through relationship, both with ourselves and others. It is through these relationships that we develop the ways we bring ourselves to the world and make sense of it.  People often seek counseling when their internal experience has inhibited their participation in their lives as they would like.

In the therapeutic relationship, we can begin to explore together the constitution of your internal world, and consider how this has formed you and your participation with the world. This new relationship offers the opportunity for experiences of relationship to be explored, and for the painful and formative aspects of relationship, such as conflict and connection, to be re-experienced and re-engaged with a different outcome.  In the context of the therapeutic relationship, you are joined as we traverse the terrain of your internal landscapes with the hope of a different outcome.
