Ann DeMaris Davids, LICSW

In practice since 2006

I have experience working with individuals, couples and families in the midst of various life circumstances including depression, anxiety, life transitions, loss and trauma.

Life can be messy…and full of uncomfortable feelings. It’s our ability to cope with these feelings that enables us to get through the night, wake up the next morning and keep moving forward. At the core of my psychotherapy work is the belief that learning from what we have experienced is what makes change possible. Whatever your circumstances are, I will meet you where you are, without judgment and listen carefully to what you are bringing.

I work with people in the hard-to-bear emotional places in their lives, with the hope that, over time, they might experience a greater capacity to handle the emotions that can accompany unexpected outcomes and disappointment.

My early academic and work experiences were in the fields of dance and early childhood education. I then earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan, where I was trained in family systems and psychodynamic psychotherapy. A 2-year post-graduate internship through the Alliance Community Psychotherapy Clinic deepened my understanding of working with people from a psychoanalytically informed stance. Other training includes: certificates in School Social Work (from the University of Michigan) and Geriatric Mental Health (from the University of Washington); Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT); Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT); Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP); and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I am also a Washington State Approved Supervisor, and enjoy supporting Social Workers in Washington State on their journeys toward licensure.
